Belief v Reality
So many things I believed in as a kid were patently silly.
I believed that if I held a shell to my ear I’d hear the sea. Whatever the sound was, it wasn’t the sea.
I believed that if I ate the crusts of my sandwiches I’d get curly hair, and if I was a very good girl Santa would bring me lots of presents at Christmas. Neither eventuated.
I believed everything I learned at Sunday School, even if it was clearly a metaphor. The jury’s still out on this one.
And I believed anything was possible if I worked for it hard enough. As I turned out, that was true.
